Expressive Movement Drawing

The result was fantastic. We all went home tired and pit out. Unfortunately one participant couldn’t make it but it turned out great fun because I decided to participate myself. 😀 We didn’t stick to the paper though and ended up drawing on the floor…bouncing around…climbing up poles and laughing madly. It was a great workshop. I will add some photos below as well as a short video for those that would like to see the results.

Workshop Background

In this workshop the aim will be to express feelings that are pent up in the body by using our whole body to create. Please have a look at the below videos on Youtube to get a better idea of what it will be like. Remember that you can determine how involved you want to get into the piece and do not necessarily have to lie down and roll around. 😉 You could also bring some music with headphones to aid you into your experience. You do not have to produce something aesthetically pleasing either….the workshop is mainly about releasing and expressing in a safe, creative environment.

Before we start we will do some fun exercises to make you feel more comfortable in the environment as well as the people around. The workshop will take place at the Art Lokasie which is on the same property as my current studio. The building is currently still empty and has a lot of space for everyone to work in. I can take a maximum of 10 people all spread throughout the building.

Participants have three options to what material they want to use:

(Or maybe mix them up if you want do more than one drawing)

Option 1. You will be provided with one 210*200 cm pre-primed canvas as well as charcoal to draw with. Price for this option: N$950.00. If you would like two pieces of canvas please let me know and I will provide you with a price. The extra piece must be paid with the deposit. Canvas may always be reused for some other art projects.

Option 2. You will be provided with good quality paper that is connected at the back with masking tape and charcoal to draw with. Namibia doesn’t sell any big enough quality paper for this exercise that is why they need to be connected. Price for this option: N$680.00. If you would like two pieces of paper please let me know and I will provide a price for you. The extra piece must be paid with the deposit.

Option 3. You will be provided with newsprint quality paper connected at the back and charcoal to draw with. Please note that this paper is not good quality and might tear. If you are not much bothered about the actual result on paper but rather expression and release this is an excellent option. Price for this option: N$560.00. If you would like two pieces of paper please let me know and I will provide a price for you. The extra piece must be paid with the deposit.
