Found Object Sculpture Workshop for high school and adults

Found Object Sculpture Art Workshop

Please join me on Saturday and Sunday  26 & 27 September 14h00-17h30 for a found object sculpture art workshop where we will create small sculpture(s) out of found objects. The material/found objects may be anything you have picked up in nature or man-made and/or a combination thereof. No previous art skills needed.  I also have a selection of found objects which you could use but it is good to bring some stuff too.

During the first part we will have a brief background and slideshow on how found objects became part of art as well a few examples of found object sculptures to give you an idea what one could create. The sculptures may be realistic or abstract. For the definition of abstract art please read the excerpt below the pictures.

I will provide some found objects which I have accumulated over time as well as glue and screws. I do not have enough to provide everyone so please bring your own found objects to share and exchange with others. Please note that we will not be welding. Sculptures will be glued, tied or screwed together.

T-shirt Printing for Kids Saturday 25 July 2015 10h00-13h30

Dear parents,

This Saturday 25 July 2015 I will be offering another t-shirt printing workshop for children from 10h00-13h30 at my studio in Bach street. I will teach them how to create their own stencils and how to print these on their shirts or clothes.

The children will need to bring between one and up to three of their own t-shirts (white is the best colour and needs to have some cotton in it) as well as a design that they would like to print.(Just bring as many pictures you can find and then we can make a selection here) Please keep the pictures very simple as stencil printing is easier if the design does not have too many details. I will also have a selection of images ready for those that cannot find anything they fancy or are unsure about what to select. All other materials are included in the price.

The cost of the workshop is N$220.00 per child and if you would like your child to join my regular art class from 09h00-10h00 this Saturday to make it easier for transport this will be another N$80.00 per child.

Please book a spot immediately. Payment will need to be done either via EFT two days before commencement or cash before workshop start. Please request my banking details should you decide to make a transfer or cash deposit. Below is a picture of one of my previous t-shirt printing workshops.

Expressive Movement Drawing Workshop

34

Please join me for an my second expressive movement drawing workshop. This is my last workshop before my trip to Australia for my artist residency. I will only be back after 6 weeks, end of May. 🙂 Due to the fantastic feedback  given by previous participants I decided to repeat the workshop. Previous participants have experienced a physical release of stuck energy and a new expressive freedom in their art and in general life. This workshop is great for anyone who feels the need to express themselves in a safe and constructive environment. I only have space for 4 participants at a time. The workshop will be shorter than last time as it is quite tiring. There are two dates you may participate. You may choose to participate in both or just one workshop.

Wednesday 8 &/or 15 April from 18h00-20h00 at my studio in Windhoek West. Please book as early as possible. Only participants which have paid the of N$100.00 deposit by Tuesday 7 April 14h00 will have a space reserved and will be allowed to participate. I will provide all materials – it will be cheap to keep costs low as it is meant for expression and not for exhibition. If you do like to keep your work you may bring your own paper – it needs to be big enough for you to fit on it. See pictures. Cost are N$300.00 per session/p/p

Book today at kirsten.wechslberger@yahoo.com or 0812463255

See https://kirstenwechslberger.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/expressive-movement-drawing/ for more feedback on previous workshop or http://www.we.com.na/art-and-entertainment/expressive-drawing-freeing-your-inner-child.216110 for the newspaper article. 🙂

‘Abstract art uses a visual language of shape, form, colour and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Western art had been, from the Renaissance up to the middle of the 19th century, underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. The arts of cultures other than the European had become accessible and showed alternative ways of describing visual experience to the artist. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a new kind of art which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. The sources from which individual artists drew their theoretical arguments were diverse, and reflected the social and intellectual preoccupations in all areas of Western culture at that time.

Abstract art, nonfigurative art, nonobjective art, and nonrepresentational art are loosely related terms. They are similar, but perhaps not of identical meaning.

Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be slight, partial, or complete. Abstraction exists along a continuum. Even art that aims for verisimilitude of the highest degree can be said to be abstract, at least theoretically, since perfect representation is likely to be exceedingly elusive. Artwork which takes liberties, altering for instance color and form in ways that are conspicuous, can be said to be partially abstract. Total abstraction bears no trace of any reference to anything recognizable. In geometric abstraction, for instance, one is unlikely to find references to naturalistic entities.’ – Wikipedia

Creative Goal Setting Workshop (Vision Board) Workshop 2

It is much easier to stay on target with your life-goals when the mind has something visual to look at every day. A vision board looked at every day will remind you of what your true goals in life are instead of being distracted by daily inputs and desires…especially those desires created by external inputs like the advertising industry or societal pressures.

Those that attended the previous workshop in March and that would like to revise their boards or go on with them because they have had not time to do this at home are welcome to join the circle for N$50.00 as long as you bring your material that you were given last time with you. 🙂

During this workshop we will set up short term and long term goals and create a visual piece of your end-vision in your own personal style. It promises to be fun but will also be challenging.

The workshop will take place on Saturday 1 August from 14h00-17h00 at my studio in Windhoek West. The cost is N$220.00 per person. You will be required to bring at least 10 magazines for everyone to share and choose images from. I will provide all other materials.

Please book in advance. Please contact me for more info, booking and banking details. 🙂 kirsten.wechslberger@yahoo.com or 0812463255

Button Bowl Workshop for Adults and Children

Please join me for a the Button Bowl Workshop on Sunday 8 February from 10h00-13h00. You will learn how to make an easy bowl with buttons and glue. This is a wonderful exercise for mom’s and daughter as they can work together. Children below the age of 7 must be accommodated by a parent. You could also choose a different shape of bowl like a rectangle but you will need to bring a sample shape along that one could work from. The workshop will take place at my new studio on corner of Bach and Purcell street in Windhoek West.

I will provide all materials except for the buttons as it is easier that you pick the colours that you would want at the shop. For the bowl above you would need roughly 270 buttons….you could make two bowls during the workshop so it would be best to bring double the amount. You can buy buttons at any textile/material shop in Windhoek.

The cost of the workshop is N$250.00 per person (child and adult are the same) and I can accommodate about 12 people in my studio so please book as soon as possible. A deposit of N$100.00 must be made upon booking to confirm your spot and the rest may be paid upon arrival of the workshop.
